PDA Europe Applicator Spray Course - 4-7 October 2010

Description
This course identifies the many elements involved in the successful set up and operation of polyurea spray equipment. It also gives attendees an in-depth analysis of commercially available equipment designs and necessary hardware components to ensure successful operation and spray application of polyureas.

Registration is open and it requires filling in this registration form and faxing it back to PDA Europe. Payment is done by credit card. Registration will be done on a first come, first served basis due to limited number of participants.

The fourth edition of the Polyurea Development Association (PDA Europe) annual conference, entitled “It's time to ... POLYUREA”, will take place from 15-17th November 2010 at Hotel Melia Sitges (Barcelona), Spain.

Early bird rates are available until 15 October 2010. If you are a speaker during the event, please choose the "Speaker" option in the registration (300 EUR) - this is a special discount, and does not count for other benefits your company may have (e.g. in the case of additional representatives from same company, the first registrant apart from the speaker will pay full member participation).

Call for papers - deadline extension to 30 June!

By presenting a paper at the conference, you provide your organisation with invaluable industry visibility, gain recognition amongst your peers, reinforce your expertise within the POLYUREA community and create the opportunity of advising suppliers of your needs.

Papers are invited from polyurea coating professionals - from raw material suppliers to applicators.

Possible topics include:
- case studies on the use of polyurea coatings
- new technical developments or chemistry
- Environmental, standards and stewardship issues
- application technologies

The deadline for offering a paper is 30 June 2010.  Please send speaker details, a title and short summary (around 250 words) pda-europe@kelleneurope.com.

The submitted summaries will be judged by the PDA Europe Programme Committee.

The short summary and presenter’s biography of the accepted papers will be included in the official event booklet.

Submission conditions :
- Presentations must not focus on promotion of a company or its products.
- All abstracts must be in English and e-mailed using the Abstract Submission Form (download here)
- Abstracts should be limited to 250 words and accompanied by presenter's biography of 100 words and photo
Include the names of all authors of the presentation.
- The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel or accommodation
- By submitting an abstract, you grant the organisers permission to include the electronic format of the presentation in the conference proceedings for the event - unless otherwise noted.
- The PDA Europe Programme Committee will review all abstracts. The committee reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the program.
- Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the author.
- An abstract which does not adhere to these requirements is unlikely to be accepted.
- Further instructions on presentation requirements will be provided in the notification letter and in additional correspondence.

Third annual conference a success

PDA Europe has just concluded its “phantastic” third Annual Conference! The event was hosted by Phantasialand, in Brühl, Germany, and highlighted the latest developments in the polyurea world in the last year. One thing is certain: PDA Europe and polyurea show no signs of crisis. The conference gathered a comparable number of participants as the previous years and had a larger amount of exhibitors than ever before!

An increasing amount of people are new to polyurea every year, and those already there are always ready to learn more. This was shown by the number of people taking place in the educational courses held during the conference, with the great work of PDA Europe trainers Dominique Smits (Education Committee Chair) and Stefan Priemen. The newly launched course on Surface Preparation—Concrete was much appreciated by a dynamic and interactive group of attendees.

The conference brought forward a diverse range of presentations, covering topics ranging from chemistry and raw materials, to fire safety and European requirements for coatings. More case studies were presented during the event than the previous years, following participants’ requests: roofing applications, desalination projects, silent floors and many more. The highlight was of course the presentation and visit of the Wakobato attraction in Phantasialand, organised by PDAE member Karl Gerniers of Three Dee Factory. Karl did a wonderful job in showing participants step by step the application of polyurea for the Wakobato statues and guided them through the attraction visit. With the support of the Education Committee members, a spray demonstration followed in the paint workshop of Phantasialand.

Conference attendees also enjoyed the networking opportunities offered by the exhibition, as well as an entertaining evening event in Western style. It became clear that polyurea experts are also skilled jugglers, and know very well how to bring together high expertise and informal gatherings as the right mix for a successful conference.

PDA Europe 2008 Annual Conference

2nd Successful PDA Europe Annual Conference

From 18 to 20 November 2008, about 130 attendees came to Vienna and contributed to a second successful annual conference. The event provided an update on the latest developments in the polyurea industry.

The educational courses were very well attended and appreciated: “Introduction to Polyurea” lead by Dominique Smits, Kelin Bower and Dudley Primeaux II,  and “Surface preparation of metal and concrete” lead by Bernd Dietz and Dominique Smits.

The table top display in the hotel foyer gathered the latest news and exhibits from Bayer MaterialScience, CPi Foam, Gama, Graco, Huntsman, Nitroil, Polycraft, Rema Tip Top and Thor.

The main day of the conference took place in the impressive ballroom of the Parkhotel Schoenbrunn and contained the latest raw materials news and application case studies from Europe and around the world.

A practical demonstration for joint filling on different substrates was held by Gebhard Rauter from Fastsetpowerunits, who demonstrated the practical use of a polyurea based joint filler (Polyvers) in combination with a Gama “Easy Spray”, equipment with static-mixing gun.

A very lively evening reception took place in the Viennese Fuhrgassl-Huber Winery, gathering all participants in a traditional friendly and enjoyable Austrian atmosphere.

The last day of the conference included a field trip to the Vienna Zoo, where the enclosures of the rhinos and the elephants were coated with polyurea.

The conference also hosted the PDA Europe Annual Meeting, where several new board members were elected. Bernd Dietz, Rema Tip Top, took over the presidency for 2009 from Marc Broeckaert.
